IN MEMORY OF JUAN RAMIREZ
On August 23, 2017 the world lost Juan Ramirez, a gentle soul and extremely talented runner, when he was struck and killed by a hit and run driver while running. Juan was loved and admired by runners and others throughout Southern California and beyond.
A marathon runner, Juan typically ran 70 miles per week, topping 100 the weeks preceding a marathon. He had a personal record in the marathon of 2 hours and 30 minutes. He was also highly competitive in all distances. Indeed, in 2008 the OC Register's David Whiting entitled his column about Juan "Fastest Man in OC?" Juan loved running. It seemed he couldn't get enough of it. Juan befriended all adult runners, from elite competitors to casual joggers. He also mentored elementary children and high school runners. The drinking fountain that I'm installing for my Eagle Scout Project will be dedicated to Juan once the project is completed and display a plaque in Juan’s honor. This is perfect location that any runner, biker, hiker or anybody in the community can enjoy and honor him. Please help by donating towards my project. IN THE NEWSJuan was loved locally, throughout Southern California, and beyond. See what others have to say about him in the news stories below.
